Choose an Artist
I chose Enrique Gomez De Molina. Enrique grew up in a taxidermy shop. His father was a taxidermist. While his father taxidermied animals Enrique assembled spare parts to create strange creatures. Enrique became an artist, he would use exoctic animals to create beasts that had never been seen before. His passion landed him in jail after it was discovered that he was illegally shipping the dead animals.
In this project I had to choose an artist for inspiration and paint something. I chose to paint a mixture of a arctic fox, a snow leopard, and a snowy owl. I am pleased with the way it turned out.
Japanese Samurai Helmet
To make this I used rolled duct tape and cardboard. My first step was making a plastic wrap mold of my head. After that I made flat rolls to make the base cap. After that I used flat rolls to make the neck guard. I then put the face guard on. After that I put the decorative elements on. I put these things on with hot glue. I am pleased with the final results! I always admired the design of Japanese armor and find it interesting.
Penny Dragon
I made a lizard out of pennies! The base is chicken wire molded to the shape of a lizard. I then covered it with two layers of plaster. I then proceeded to cover is with pennies! I put pennies that were minted after 2005 (the ones with shields) on the back and head and put all pre 2005 pennies on the sides and legs. It was a lot of fun. I had a good time. I burned my fingers glueing the pennies on. 10/10 would do again!

Abstract Watercolor Project
This quarter I worked on different water color styles. One of the things I noticed was that adding texture to a piece was more difficult because of the difficulty in layering watercolor artwork. In several instances I used nearly dry paint to get a nice dark shiny look. I also used droplets of water in two of the above paintings to create a bubbly look. The first one is my main piece and I am proud of how it turned out. I was hoping to create something with color that draws you in but is still dark. I think I accomplished my task.
Eyes
This quarter I decided to paint a series of eyes using watercolors on canvas. I used several different types of eyes. I used a monster, a cat and my own eye. The challenges I faced are the fact that water color does not absorb onto pre made canvas, it just sits on top until it dries. I had to be careful where I painted and where do to this. I had a challenging time with the eyelashes as well. It seems like they should be longer but the angle I was at had that distance. I had to add more paint to the cat hair because it look spotty. I had a good time doing this project and I am over all pleased with the turn out.
